Asking for help at work is a professional skill, not a failure. The clearest requests show what you have already tried, name the decision or blockage, and ask for one specific kind of support.
When priorities conflict
"I am working on the client proposal and the reporting deadline, and both need focused time this week. Could we agree which one should take priority?"
When you need feedback
"I have drafted the first version and would value your feedback on the recommendation before I send it. Is there a time this week for a quick review?"
When you are blocked
"I tried A and B, but I am still blocked by the access issue. Could you point me to the right owner, or let me know the best next step?"
When your workload is too high
"I can complete this to a good standard by Friday, but not alongside the other urgent request. Could we move one deadline or decide what can be reduced?"
Keep the request easy to answer
A short request with a proposed next step is easier for someone to help with. If you want wording tailored to your situation, use the asking-for-help helper.
